Exhibition: Head On by Cai Guo Qiang

Went National Museum of Singapore for this exhibition..

Exhibition Name: Head On

Head On is created by Cai Guo Qiang for his solo exhibition of the same name at the Deutsche Guggenheim in Berlin. Although the Berlin Wall is long gone, and the former East Germany and West Germany have reunified, there remain deep and intractable historical issues between the two sides. The 99 life-sized wolves are leaping en masse towards an unseen wall, with those at the front falling from striking the wall while those bringing up the rear continuing surging forward, undeterred. Seen from afar, the leaping wolf pack forms an arc full of force and power, their fierce courage and spirit of warrior camaraderie seemingly serving as a reminder to people: humanity is easily blinded by a kind of collective mentality and action, and is destined to repeat such error to an almost unbelievable degree. The crux of this installation lies just before the glass wall, as the artist reminds people: invisible walls are the hardest to dismantle.

撞墙: A continuation of the wolves gunpowder "painting" 玄涡, this is 99 piece of life size replica wolves..

《撞墙》是艺术家为柏林德意志古根汉美术馆的个展所创作。柏林围墙(Berlin wall) 虽不复存在，东西德已然统一，但历史 余留下的问题仍然根深蒂固。作品中九十九只唯妙唯肖的狼，集体式地向一堵看不见的墙，前仆后继地冲撞过去，义无反顾。从远处看，狼群跳跃成一条充满力量和 气势的弧线，狼的凶猛、勇敢，具团队精神和英勇战士般的气概，似乎在提醒人们：人类容易过度盲从于一种集体观念和行动，并且有着不可思议重复错误的命运。 在这个装置最为关键的那面玻璃墙前，艺术家也试图提醒人们：看不见的墙更难拆。

For those who don't comprehend Chinese, mind my loose translation: Although Berlin wall had already been removed, but there is still a clear separation deeply rooted in every German's heart... These 99 wolves army are the portrait of people blindly following behind society believe in-result of repetitive mistakes.. Artist trying to highlight this message that invisible wall takes more effort to remove..

看不见的墙更难拆... this is the first time i felted so much in an art piece..
